MY PREDICTION:



Indians in 7; One of the greatest series of all time.



WHY?:



My simple theory which I pointed out in the NLCS post, pitching wins in playoff baseball. That said, the Red Sox has some quality starters, but the Cleveland Indians have two aces (Sabathia & Carmona) in comparison to the Sox' one(Beckett). I say that the Sox win the games that Beckett pitches and maybe one gem from Schilling for old times' sake. But that seems unlikely. On the hitting side of things, I think that the Indians have the best lineup from one-through-nine. The BoSox, on the other hand, have the hitting stars, Manny and Big Papi. But they also do have the incomparable J.D. Drew. This leaves me to believe that this will be one of the greatest League Championship Series' of this generation.

NLCS Preview

First off, I'd like to give a shout out to the excellent blog, Kissing Suzy Kolber, which has the humorous weekly feature, NFL PostSecret. ("NFL" is a link.)

MY PREDICTION:

Diamondbacks in six.

WHY?

I think that the Diamondbacks have the most important part of postseason baseball: Pitching. Sure the Rockies have some quality pitchers, but the D-Backs have an actual ace to rely on and a much better bullpen, in my opinion. The Rockies do have a nice lineup, not to mention Kaz Matsui, of all people, has been hitting nicely. But did you even see a game of the D-Backs vs. Cubs series? The Diamondbacks hitting is looking a whole lot better than the .247 average they put up over the season.

Monday Night Football: Dallas @ Buffalo, plus more

WELCOME TO AUSTIN'S SPORTS BLOG

This is the first post to the new Austin's Sports Blog. I'd just like to thank you for reading this. I'll do regular updates on this blog such as I did tonight, especially during NFL season.

A nice win by Dallas tonight in a real nail biter that came down until the end. The offense hasn't done anything for the Dallas, and it seemed pretty lucky in the fashion that they've won. Romo thrown 5 interceptions, which two were returned for TDs. That and given up a returned kickoff for a touchdown. Not to mention, the Bills pulled a "Shanahan" on the 'Boys, but Folk nailed the kick twice. Either way, a win is a win, so congrats to the Cowboys. Also, keep the name Marshawn Lynch in your head. He has the potential to be a star running back.

In MLB, though, the Indians prevailed over the Yankees tonight. They'll go on and face the Boston Red Sox in the ALCS. The bigger story is with the Yankees. Steinbrenner threw out a statement which basically said that if the Yankees don't make it out of the first round, and lo and behold, they do not. This'll be interesting how this all shakes out. As Colin Cowherd brought up, when the Yankees win, it's all because of Torre; when the Yankees lose blame it on A-Rod. Torre deserved some of the criticism for the beginning of the season. IMO, Cashman should go along with him. They need some new blood.
